Puy de Saint Evence and Confrérie du Moyen Âge

This will be a short post as it could almost be a forgotten hike. It reaches the Puy de Saint Evence, Valle d'Aosta, 1674m, with its chapel starting from Colle di San Pantaleone, 1650m, where there is another chapel.

The hike takes about 30 min (one way) and goes on a large and well marked path that goes a bit up and down in the forest. In the middle the trees open up and you have a clear view of the Matterhorn (see cover image)!

At the arrival the forest clears around the chapel and you have a nice viewpoint across the valley.

The hike takes 4.9km and 1h-1h30 with 150m elevation (return).

The best part of this hike? Just 10 minutes from it there is the Confrérie du Moyen âge. This is "an hotel" but the most incredible I've ever been! It is a rural home renovated in midde-age style every room has a different sylte and dinner is served in costume. But the best part is the passion of the owners who built it themselves as they are antique and restoration experts. A bit pricy but totally worth!

La croix de Châtel

It’s easy, scenic, and family-friendly—perfect even with a 4-year-old, who managed (almost) the entire walk. Pilatus Kulm and Esel

Download GPS file I started from  Alpnachstad Station  at 450m, right at the base of the Pilatusbahn funicular. Parking can fill up quickly, so it’s best to arrive early or avoid weekends if you can. From the base, you backtrack slightly through town to find a sign pointing uphill to  Pilatus Kulm . Within minutes, you rise above the houses and get sweeping views of the lake below.
